Terms & Conditions

These terms govern access to the CogentSpec website, account services, subscriptions, and hosted workspace features.

Last updated: 14 August 2026

Effective date and version

Effective 5 September 2026. Account acceptance version: 2026-09-05.

Using CogentSpec

You must use CogentSpec lawfully and must not attempt to disrupt the service, bypass access controls, misuse another person’s account, or use the service to infringe the rights of others.

Accounts and organisations

You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information and for activity authorised through your account, organisation, devices, and credentials. Notify us promptly if you believe access has been compromised.

Electronic acceptance

CogentSpec records acceptance against the signed-in account together with the current Terms and EULA versions, the acceptance statement, setup surface, and server timestamp. Each deliberately started installation flow requires a newly ticked confirmation and produces a separate, single-use installation request bound to that account and confirmation. Only the newest unclaimed request for the same account and Desktop surface remains usable; a newer confirmed request supersedes an older pending one, and duplicate installation tabs synchronize the same live request when the browser supports it. That installed Desktop connection may securely renew itself without another tick while it remains the active installation and the document versions have not changed. A replacement installation or a new document version requires a new website installation request and fresh confirmation before protected credentials or project-changing features are available.

Subscriptions and licences

Features may depend on an active subscription or licence. Plan scope, duration, seats, and renewal terms shown when a subscription is purchased form part of these terms. Desktop software is also governed by the EULA.

Your projects and content

You retain responsibility for projects, files, prompts, instructions, and other material you submit. You must have the rights and permissions needed to use that material and to instruct CogentSpec to process it.

Service availability

We work to provide a reliable service, but features may change and access may occasionally be interrupted for maintenance, security, legal, or operational reasons. Beta and tour features may be modified or withdrawn.

Intellectual property

CogentSpec and its software, design, documentation, trademarks, and service materials remain owned by their respective rights holders. No ownership is transferred except for the limited rights expressly granted under these terms or the EULA.

Responsibility and liability

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded. Subject to applicable law, CogentSpec is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss, and you remain responsible for reviewing generated work, backups, release decisions, and production use.

Suspension, termination, and changes

Access may be suspended or terminated for material breach, security risk, non-payment, or unlawful use. We may update these terms as the service develops and will publish the current version here.
